Captivating and amazing, worth it! - We found this research-affiliated aquarium and insectarium to be truly enlightening and fascinating. I couldn’t even count how many things we learned. There’s an emphasis here on tying together animal characteristics, behavior, and environment. Keepers write little chalkboard notes about the animals they’re caring for, including an adorable baby penguin and a beautiful sea turtle rescued from Cape Cod. Interactive exhibits creatively teach fun facts about bugs of all stripe. The butterfly exhibit brings you right into their world.

Fantastic and highly recommended! - We spent 4 days in NOLA in March 2026. Each kid (17f, 15f, 13m) got to plan a day. This was 13m option. This was a great activity! The aquarium was well maintained and staffed with really knowledgeable friendly people. We got to learn about the African penguins and see the new penguin chick! It was feeding time so we got to see them feed the penguins and the baby! They had just added lemon sharks, we got to pet sting rays. There was part that was the Amazon rainforest. We got to see some Incan terns being fed which was SO much fun!!!!! There were jelly fish, gators, an insectarium, and a butterfly house. It was a really great little surprise!

A Good Visit to the Aquarium & Insectarium - We enjoyed the Insect exhibit and the Aquarium, it was interesting and informative. The fish were being fed and we spoke to the aquarium attendants in length about the fish and their care; that was insightful. All together the attraction is well put together and is a nice outing for the family, every one in our group enjoyed seeing the many different type of insects. The butterfly exhibit was also nice, and they were everywhere flying around and landing on a few people. Didn't see to many birds in the bird sanctuary, I guess they were hiding in the canopy of trees. The Mayan exhibit is another section that was interesting and you get to go through an underwater tunnel that is under the fish. Then you travel to the stingray pool where you can touch the stingray. Its a good exhibit , go and check it out.

Good for little ones, not so much for preteens and teenagers - Beautiful aquarium and insectarium with engaging and knowledgeable staff. Our crew was 10 years and up so it was a little too basic for us but would be great for littles. Cost is on the high end for about an hour.

Aquarium and Insectarium - Not as expansive as I'd hoped, but very clean. Love the sea turtle, the rays and penguins. No clownfish
