Sailing into Family Fun: A Catamaran Adventure in Palma
Join me as I recount a delightful day spent on a catamaran cruise in Palma, where a Mediterranean BBQ and swimming adventure awaits. Discover why this family-friendly excursion is a must-do for those seeking relaxation and fun on the water.
Setting Sail on a Family Adventure
As a travel writer and a mother of three, I am always on the lookout for family-friendly activities that offer both fun and relaxation. Our recent trip to Palma was no exception, and I was particularly excited about the Catamaran Cruise we had planned. The promise of a Mediterranean BBQ and swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Cala Vella sounded like the perfect way to spend a day with my kids.
The day began with a gentle breeze as we boarded the elegant catamaran. I was immediately impressed by the spaciousness of the boat. With a capacity for 57 people, they only allow a maximum of 36 passengers, ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone. This thoughtful detail was a huge plus for me, as I always prioritize comfort and safety when traveling with my children.
The crew, known as the Oasis crew, welcomed us warmly, and we set sail from the Port of Palma. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, with chilled-out dance remixes playing softly in the background. My kids were thrilled to explore the boat, and I felt at ease knowing that the crew was attentive and the facilities were clean and well-maintained.
A Feast for the Senses
As we sailed towards Cala Vella, a nature reserve known for its idyllic coves, the anticipation of the BBQ grew. The crew prepared a delicious spread right on board during our swim stop. The aroma of BBQd corn on the cob, chicken breast, and hot dogs filled the air, complemented by fresh salads, breads, and a delightful dip that resembled taramasalata.
My children, always eager to try new foods, were delighted by the variety and freshness of the meal. It was a joy to see them savoring each bite, and I couldn’t help but indulge myself. The bar on board offered a selection of cocktails, and I appreciated the quality of the drinks, which were far from the usual grenadine-based disappointments.
While the kids enjoyed their meal, I took a moment to soak in the stunning views of the Mediterranean. The crystal-clear waters of Cala Vella were inviting, and the paddleboards and pool noodles provided endless entertainment for the little ones. Life jackets were readily available, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
A Day to Remember
The return journey was just as pleasant, with the sun setting over the Bay of Palma. The only minor hiccup was the limited sunbathing space, as the nets on the catamaran were not available for use during transit. However, there were plenty of seats, and the overall comfort of the trip more than made up for it.
One thing to note for future travelers is the need for clearer directions to the meeting point. We had a bit of trouble finding it, as Google Maps didn’t recognize the coordinates, and the landmarks mentioned were not visible from the meeting point. A small inconvenience, but something to keep in mind.
Overall, the Catamaran Cruise was a fabulous experience that I would highly recommend to families visiting Palma. The combination of a relaxing sail, delicious food, and the opportunity to swim in such a beautiful setting made for a memorable day. My children are already asking when we can go back, and I must admit, I’m eager to return as well. Thank you to the Oasis crew for making our day so special!
