Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Lodge – Monkey Island – Night Activity

Monkey Island - Guests will be collected from their hotel, bus station, or the airport in Puerto Maldonado and taken to our office. From there, a 40-minute journey along the Madre de Dios River will bring them to our lodge. Upon arrival, a refreshing fruit juice will be served.

After settling into their rooms and having a brief rest, guests will embark on a jungle walk to explore the lush vegetation, including trees that are 500 years old, and observe birds such as parrots and macaws, as well as monkeys, snakes, and a variety of insects like butterflies. The walk will also include a suspension bridge. After the hike, guests will return to the lodge for lunch.

Post-lunch, a visit to Monkey Island is planned, where guests can observe more than three species of monkeys, including capuchin monkeys, marmosets, and squirrel monkeys.

Following this, guests will return to the lodge for dinner, and in the evening, a night walk will be conducted to search for caimans.

Tambopata National Reserve - The Tambopata National Reserve is an ideal destination for nature and adventure enthusiasts. Guests can explore this wonderful place with our local guide, who will provide insights into the wildlife, flora, and fauna daily.

Sandoval Lake Full Day Exploring - Night Activity

Lago Sandoval - After breakfast, guests will embark on a 5 km walk through the dense tropical jungle to reach Sandoval Lake, one of the largest in the Tambopata Reserve. The lake offers a stunning view of the landscape and is a haven for bird lovers. A typical regional lunch will be served, followed by a rowing boat ride on Sandoval Lake, where guests can enjoy the diverse birdlife, including shanshos, cormorants, jacanas, puma herons, and possibly spot a sloth or a family of giant otters (nearly two meters long) and the largest recorded alligator measuring over 4 meters long. Guests will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, guests can enjoy a canopy walk (suspension bridge system) by climbing a 40-meter high tower and platform, offering a beautiful panorama and the chance to see birds and mammals such as toucans, macaws, and eagles.

Before dinner, a night walk is planned to observe insects, owls, spiders, and snakes, after which guests will return to the lodge for dinner.

Parakeets Clay Lick (La Cachuela) - Piranhas Fishing

Tambopata National Reserve - Early in the morning, before breakfast, guests will prepare for a trip on the Madre de Dios River to visit a small green parakeets clay wall, LA CACHUELA. Depending on the time and weather, guests may see parakeets from the rocks or sandbanks, with the possibility of spotting toucans, other birds, and the elusive 2 and 3-toed sloths.

Breakfast will depend on the time spent visiting the Parrots’ Clay Lick and the return to the hostel.

In the afternoon, guests will visit a local farm to taste and learn about local fruits and medicinal plants. After lunch, guests will be ready to head back to town, where our staff will drop them off at our office to await their plane or head to the bus station.
