Puerto Maldonado – Paradise Amazon Lodge (Tambopata)
Puerto Maldonado - At 9:30 AM, guests will be escorted to the pier at Puerto Capitania. From there, they will embark on a peaceful 30-minute boat ride to the tranquil Paradise Amazon Lodge.
Tambopata National Reserve - CANOPY: A short 200-meter walk from the lodge leads to the Canopy Tower, which stands 35 meters tall. This tower is located beside a magnificent Lupuna Tree, a renowned symbol of the Amazon due to its grand stature.
Throughout the day, visitors can observe a variety of bird species from this vantage point. A local guide will provide insightful information about the surrounding flora and fauna.
Madre de Dios Region - KAYAKING: In the early afternoon, a kayaking adventure awaits. Starting from the lodge, the team will ensure all participants are equipped with the necessary safety gear.
Once ready, the kayaking journey begins, accompanied by a safety boat to ensure everyone’s safety throughout the experience.
Afterward, guests can cool off from the Amazonian heat by taking a refreshing dip in the waters of the Madre de Dios River.
Tambopata National Reserve - MONKEY ISLAND: Following the kayaking adventure, a brief 15-minute boat ride downstream will take guests to Monkey Island. As the name suggests, the island is home to various monkey species.
Visitors are likely to encounter Capuchin monkeys, Black Monkeys (Cebus apella), White Monkeys (Cebus albifrons), and more. Many of these species are quite friendly. With guidance from a local expert, guests can approach and even feed them, observing their harmonious existence in the Tambopata National Reserve.
After this unique interaction, the aim is to return to the lodge by 4:30 PM, just in time to enjoy an Amazonian sunset.
Tambopata National Reserve - CAIMAN SPOTTING:
An evening excursion will take guests on a search for alligators, equipped with searchlights and headlamps. They will observe dwarf caimans and white caimans. The group will return to the resort around 7:30 PM for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Lake Sandoval – Night Walk
Tambopata National Reserve - In the morning, the melodious chirping of birds will serve as a natural alarm. The team is ready to serve a delicious breakfast featuring freshly squeezed fruit juice, authentic Peruvian coffee, eggs, fluffy pancakes, savory fried plantains, and other traditional breakfast items.
At 9:30 AM, the journey to the checkpoint begins, where local authorities will register visitor details. Following this, a scenic three-kilometer trek leads to Lake Sandoval.
During the trek, guests can observe a diverse array of flora and fauna. The vast lake is notably home to majestic otters, often spotted by visitors.
Lago Sandoval - Nestled within the forest and along the serene shores of Lake Sandoval, a sumptuous meal will be served. Afterward, a rowboat journey to the lake’s heart offers the chance to spot more of its avian inhabitants and creatures.
The area is home to hoatzins, cormorants, and anhingas. On fortunate occasions, visitors have even glimpsed the distinctive and playful “river wolves.” After this intimate encounter with the vibrant life of Lake Sandoval, the group will return to the resort.
Lago Sandoval - Around 6:30 PM, a walk will commence to observe various nocturnal creatures. A knowledgeable guide will provide detailed explanations about each one.
Following the exploration, guests will return to the lodge for dinner at approximately 7:30 PM.
Parrot Clay Lick – SportFishing – Transfer to Tambopata
Lago Sandoval - With an early morning start, guests will enjoy a beautiful sunrise while navigating up the River Madre de Dios to the Collpa de Loros. A flock of birds will gradually approach the cliff to consume the clay as guests settle in.
There will also be opportunities to see several other bird species, such as blue-headed parrots, auroras, and parakeets.
This activity lasts about an hour, during which guests can film, take stunning photos, and reflect on these beautiful and fascinating birds while witnessing the breathtaking sunrise over the rainforest.
The group will return to the resort at 7:00 AM for breakfast at 8:00 AM.
After breakfast, there will be time to rest before the next excursion.
Lago Sandoval - After breakfast, a journey to a nearby ravine for a fishing excursion awaits. The lake is abundant with a diverse array of fish, including catfish, damsels, sardines, and piranhas.
The catch will be brought back to the resort, where the chef will expertly prepare it for lunch using traditional seasonings.
Tambopata National Reserve - After breakfast, guests will be transported back to Tambopata in time for their next bus or flight.
