Arrival in Iceland
Keflavik - Upon arrival in Iceland, make your way independently to your hotel for an overnight stay in Reykjavík. Spend your first evening enjoying the city’s delightful restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions.
Golden Circle & Optional Northern Lights Tour
Thingvellir - Embark on Iceland’s most renowned day tour — the Golden Circle. This tour includes visits to the rift valley at Þingvellir National Park, the erupting Strokkur geyser at the Geysir geothermal area, and the majestic Gullfoss waterfall.
Þingvellir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates converge. Known for its striking landscapes, clear waters, and historical importance as the site of Iceland’s first parliament, it offers both natural beauty and cultural richness.
Note: The Golden Circle Tour is available on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Therefore, it may not always occur on the second day of your trip — the specific day will depend on the weekday you book. This will also influence the order of any optional tours you decide to include in your itinerary.
Geysir - The Geysir Geothermal Area features steaming vents, bubbling hot springs, and the renowned Strokkur geyser, which erupts every few minutes. Visitors can witness Iceland’s geothermal energy up close in this dynamic and ever-evolving landscape.
Gullfoss Waterfall - Gullfoss, or the “Golden Falls,” is one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls. It cascades in two dramatic stages into a rugged canyon, creating powerful mist and rainbows on sunny days, making it a highlight of the Golden Circle route.
Reykjavik - You have the option to embark on a guided Northern Lights tour in the evening. Your knowledgeable guide will take you to the best available location for aurora viewing, away from city lights. This tour is planned for your second night, allowing flexibility to reschedule on subsequent evenings if weather conditions are unfavorable or the lights are not visible.
Optional Blue Lagoon Visit
Blue Lagoon - Enjoy a free day in Reykjavík or relax in the soothing, mineral-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland’s most iconic experiences. Surrounded by lava fields and steamy skies, this optional visit can be added to your itinerary during booking. The tour includes return transfer with hotel pickup and drop-off and Comfort Admission to the Blue Lagoon, including a mud mask, rented towel, and one drink.
Optional South Shore Tour
Seljalandsfoss - On this optional tour, enjoy a ride along Iceland’s south coast. This coastal road offers views of glacier tongues, waterfalls, rugged hills, black sand beaches, and its famous volcanoes.
Travel to Seljalandsfoss Waterfall (approximately a 2-hour drive from Reykjavík), which stands 60 meters tall. You can walk behind the waterfall, but dress appropriately, as the water mist can make you wet.
Skogafoss - Next, admire the majestic Skógafoss Waterfall. It is one of the most powerful waterfalls in the country, standing 60 meters high and 25 meters wide. Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is often visible on sunny days.
Reynisfjara Beach - Then, visit the black sand beach at Reynisfjara to view the geological formations and crashing waves. Be cautious not to step too close, as the waves can be dangerous.
Vik - Before returning to Reykjavík, visit Vík í Mýrdal, a coastal village that lies in the shadow of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, which covers the Katla volcano.
The drive back to Reykjavík takes about 3 hours with some stops along the way.
