Great food tour with the tour guide, Michael - Michael, the tour guide, was great. He is an American who moved to Italy for around 10 or more years. He is knowledgeable, passionate, and engaging. We ate a lot of good food, tasted great wine, learned a lot about food and drink quality and regulation in Italy, and got to visit the Trionfale food market which was a great experience.

When in Rome… eat like a Roman - This tour made a convert out of someone who started out less than enthusiastic about Italian food. I would say it is all due to the charming Lucero aka Lucy who helped us discern the authentic pizza / gelato from the tourist trap stuff and appreciate the history, regionality, and certifications (DOP) of various products ranging from cheese and ham to balsamic vinegar and truffle. It helps to be able to sort out products and know the cultural context of foods. I loved seeing locals make their selections in a market with a bewildering array of hams, cheeses, wines, produce. And finally getting to taste some of the different dishes with their specific ingredients. I highly recommend this tour. Thanks Lucy! You are an awesome guide and I loved all your personal food stories.

Roma - Cin Cin!! - A great experience to get a taste of real Roman cuisine at places you will want to return to! Irene was a vibrant guide who clearly celebrates all that Rome has to offer. Lots of historical information delivered in an engaging way. Exceptionally good value - we did not eat until lunch time the next day!

Tons of Food! - This was a super tour. Giada was such a wonderful guide, and had a lot of fun with her. There were only 4 people, which made it nice. If you are going to take this tour, I would strongly suggest, DO NOT EAT ANYTHING prior. I started the morning in Florence with an early train down to Rome and then after dropping bags at my Rome hotel, went straight to the food tour for the 10:45 am tour. I had eaten a croissant in Florence before my train. There was so much food on this tour. We started out with a cappucino or macchiato, which was tasty even though I don't normally drink coffee. Then we had suppli. Then we had pizza at Bonchi, which is an amazing place but we were given 5 different kinds of pizza, enough for each of us to have 3-4 small pieces, that's where the downfall began. :) I should not have eaten 3 pieces. Then we had an amazing but large charcuterie board, which I also ate. After that I was feeling uncomfortably full, we went to the Triofonale Market, which was interesting, but there were so many food samples offered and at that point, all I could think about was finding a bathroom. So I skipped all the food samples at the market, and really wish I had been able to try the porcheta and the prosciuito. It was really interesting trying different balsamics and seeing a 100 year old balsamic and hearing about how families will use it as an educational funding source. :) By the time we got to the restaurant for pasta, I was able to eat some and fortunately that was in a small portion. And I was able to eat some gelato. It was a fantastic tour, but I should have paced myself at the beginning! I highly recommend this. I have done food tours in multiple countries and have never had one that offered so much food!

Great food tour!!! - We had done this same food tour a few years ago and I’m glad that we did it again. Irene was great!!! Very knowledgeable about the foods, wines and the area that we visited. She made sure everyone had a fun and memorable experience. Make sure that you do not eat before the tour, there is a lot of food and wine…would definitely use Roman Food Tours again on our next visit.

Great food and great guide. - The food was great, paces was good (not too rushed) and our guide Giorgia, she was fantastic. If you are even remotely a foodie, take a break from visiting the historical sites and pay yourself a treat.
