  Royal Delft, also known as De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles, is the last remaining factory from the approximately 32 earthenware factories that appeared in Delft and its vicinity during the mid-17th century. In the late 16th century, efforts to imitate Eastern porcelain using local clay led to the creation of pottery workshops in Delft and Rotterdam. Established in 1653, Royal Delft experienced several ownership changes over the years, adapting to challenges such as porcelain competition and economic shifts. In the late 19th century, under Joost Thooft’s guidance, the company revitalized the tradition of Delft Blue pottery, gaining international acclaim. In 1919, the company was honored with the title “Royal” in recognition of its achievements. Today, Royal Delft continues to celebrate its rich history while innovating to preserve and promote the art of Delftware.
