Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park - Upon arrival at Kigali Airport, whether from an international flight or a safari elsewhere in Africa, a company representative will warmly welcome you. Before heading to the volcanoes, enjoy a tour of Kigali city. Departing the vibrant capital, travel northwest through lush hills and lively market towns for about 2.5 hours to reach the breathtaking Volcanoes National Park. This park is renowned for Dian Fossey’s groundbreaking studies of mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, experience the Ibyiwacu cultural encounter.
Volcanoes National Park - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Begin your first morning with an early trip to track the golden monkeys. These beautiful and endangered primates are more agile than mountain gorillas and reside in bamboo thickets on the lower mountain slopes. Tracking them helps you acclimate to the slight altitude. Afterwards, ascend to observe the gorillas, marking your final views of the park’s surroundings before driving to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Gorilla Trekking at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Spend a day tracking the endangered mountain gorillas, who share 97.7% of human DNA. Enjoy up to an hour among them, observing mothers keeping infants close as they knuckle-walk on three limbs. Watch toddlers scamper around, reined in by an attentive father, whose role is to protect his family. Gazing into the eyes of a mountain gorilla reveals the undeniable bond between primates and humans, and serves as a poignant reminder of their endangered status.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park- Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park - After breakfast, journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to elephants, lions, hippos, buffalo, and baboons. Participate in game drives this afternoon and the following day. While exploring, look up for tree-climbing lions, a rare sight in Africa. You may also encounter some of Uganda’s largest elephant herds.
Game Drive and Boat Launch
Queen Elizabeth National Park - Start the day with an early morning game drive in the Ishasha Sector, followed by a late transfer to Mweya Peninsula. Upon arrival, embark on a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This impressive 40-kilometer natural channel links Lake Edward and Lake George. The two-hour cruise offers a chance to explore the water and observe wildlife along the Kazinga Channel’s shores. Professional guides on the boat provide valuable information about the safari and answer any questions about the wildlife or other topics. They will also point out any wildlife you might have missed.
Queen Elizabeth National Park - Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park - After an early breakfast, transfer to Kyambura Gorge to track chimpanzees in the dramatic Kyambura Gorge on the park’s eastern side, 35km from the lodge. This area is home to a variety of wildlife, including the only primates in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It serves as an important water source for many animals and is surrounded by savanna, but is particularly noted for its high concentration of primate life in the gorge. You can also find red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus, baboons, and vervet monkeys. The gorge is also known for its diverse bird species, including various falcons, the blue-headed bee-eater, and the African finfoot. This will be followed by a transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.
Walking Safari and Transfer Back to Entebbe
Entebbe - Enjoy an early breakfast and proceed for a morning bushwalk in Mburo Park with an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger/guide. During this guided walk, you will have the opportunity to encounter, at close range, zebra, giraffe, eland, topi, and other antelope, as well as Cape buffalo, among others.
Take the trail to the top of the hills to see Lake Mburo and beyond. From this vantage point, you will have a great view of 9 of the 12 lakes surrounding Lake Mburo National Park. Afterwards, return to the accommodation for checkout and then travel to Entebbe Airport for your departure flight (recommended for 18h00 onward).
