Engaging, Insightful, and Truly Memorable - I was looking forward to the Stargazing at Teide experience, but I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. It exceeded my expectations. Huge kudos to our guide, Miguel, incredibly knowledgeable and able to present complex information in a dynamic, engaging, and never boring way. He truly made the experience unforgettable.

Be sure to do it! - We are very happy to have booked this activity. It is impressive how many stars you can see in the national park without light pollution nearby. Through a telescope we then looked at ua Saturn, Jupiter, the Orion Nebula and the Andromeda Galaxy. Much has been explained about what can be seen from Earth, how the constellation changes over the year, and where the differences between the northern and southern hemispheres lie. The currently visible zodiac signs (fish to lion) were also explained to us. Small shortcoming: partly accent, mixed with technical terms and you yourself banished from heaven, we unfortunately did not understand everything despite good English skills. Nevertheless, we would do this again and again and recommend. Especially beautiful are the two professionally taken photos, which we received as a reminder afterwards.

What you get for the money - Mount Teide is a great place to view the stars with the naked eye. I also saw 4 shooting stars. At 2,100 m above sea level you are above the clouds and the humidity is low. Having a hire car I drove myself. For 47 Euros per person, the extra you get from this experience is : * A look at 4 celestial objects through an (I'd guess 6 inch) telescope, with automatic tracking. Each person got to look at each object for about a minute. : ** A couple of globular clusters ** Andromeda galaxy - which looks like a smudge rather than a spiral that might be seen from a long exposure picture. ** Saturn, with its ring and three moons. (Looks just as you would hope and expect). * A guide describing a bit about each of the 4 celestial objects. * A bit of general astronomy info - such as size and age of the milky way, looking back in time at distant objects, where we are in the milky way, satellites, the ecliptic, how to find certain things, like the pole star, how to make the most of your eye's night vision. * A slightly greater amount of talk about constellations and mythology behind them. * Guides shining laser pointers at the stars, constellation and other celestial objects they are talking about. * Photos taken on the night of the celestial objects we looked at. Personal/family group photo with several second exposure to capture the night sky behind followed by a flash to get you in the picture. We considered the meal and sunset watch options but went to the same park instead, had a picnic and watched the sunset from above the clouds. With my time over again I'd have just gone for the free (other than cost of whatever you take) picnic, free sunset watch and free look at the night sky with my Mark 1 eyeballs. Not least as the experience clashed with a CD Tenerife home game that I would like to have watched.
