West Side is the Best Side - After reading several reviews, we were almost scared to go. The drive out is a gravel road but it truly is better than many we have at home. Some places you have to drive slowly. The road is wide enough for two cars and then some. Park at the first parking lot and walk. It’s about a45 minute walk to the interesting part of the canyon. While there were many “younger” people climbing down into the canyon, we opted not to because the side trails were soupy mud. At 60+, I’m ok looking in and not slipping and falling. It is truly amazing. The walk is a wide path and its gradual on any hills. For those of you who go to the east side of the overlook, the stairs are pretty steep and you are standing on a platform with all of the interesting formations directly under you. Truthfully, go to the west side and do the walk, your knees will thank you in the morning. Parking is $1,000

A must for your Cruise Itinerary! - The drive to the Canyon was incredible with a couple of extra stops on the way back. The view of the Canyon is accessed by around 100 metal stairs with a few 'resting' platforms on the way! You are not able to walk into the Canyon on this trip - but its still well worth a visit! We had a friendly local and knowledgeable guide. Definitely recommend this!

SUper family day! - Great family day! The explanations about the formation of the canyon and waterfall are very interesting! The columns are impressive unfortunately the duration of the stopover does not allow to see them below. To get the photos from the ground you have to do a 10km hike... So we stopped at a lookout accessible from the road. The waterfall is beautiful too! Thank you for this day we recommend!

Great place to see but make sure you know you will be viewing it from above and not at ground level - Great tour guide and bus driver. Beautiful place. Happy to have seen it. Would have liked to know ahead of time that we would be viewing it only from the area above it. Had time permitted I would rather have taken a tour where we did the hike to get there and end up at the lower viewing vantage.

Studlagil Canyon (view only) - The excursion a disappointment, the description does not correspond with what is done. We wanted to walk through the canyon and the tour only allows you to see it from a viewpoint. The Guide instead, a delight, explained many things about Iceland.

Different from expectations - The guide was really sweet and very informative. However, the tour itself was a little misguided. At the canyons, they take you all the way up and have a limited viewing spot from the top. You don't get to hike along with the canyons or even go down to see the beauty from the bottom (as in the photos they show). The people on the other side of the canyon had the freedom to do hiking, climb up or down as per their suitability, which was restricted in our case to only a caged viewing area. I couldn't get the full view and beauty of the canyon. At the waterfall, you get around 15 minutes and at the canyons you get around 45 minutes.

Shady vendor. - Trip was cancelled by vendor. Claimed they sent email. None received. In speaking with locals, apparently this provider is known for cancelling and by their assessment is a less than reputable vendor and does not reflect well on Iceland or Trip Advisor. I concur. They should be dropped from your offerings.

Canyon not easy to watch. - This tour has two destinations, canyon and the waterfall. The canyon is very far and the observation angle is not very good. Worst yet, the observation platform is so narrow that you may only be able to stay there for 5 minutes or face angry crowd. The waterfall is a plain one.
