Approaching from the east, the Rift Valley escarpment creates a stunning backdrop to the lake. In the tall trees of the groundwater forest, monkeys leap from branch to branch, while elephants find shade on the escarpment. Mount Kilimanjaro - The drive to Serengeti National Park through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area takes about 3 to 4 hours. Serengeti is also home to Olduvai Gorge, an archaeological site in the eastern Serengeti plains where early human fossils were first discovered.
