Continuing around the crater rim, the journey culminates at Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and in Africa.
A short descent leads to Crater Camp, where the team sets up camp. Options include hiking to Retch Crater and the ash pit or exploring areas around Furtwangler Glacier. Sleeping at this altitude can be risky, and guides closely monitor for signs of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
