Guide is proactive, drives on, explains well and is constantly looking for animals - Cool safari, 2 leopards, lots of elephants, crocodiles, mongooses, buffalo, peacocks and birds seen. Damith is an experienced guide, quickly found information about the locations of animals herself and through colleagues. He drove on because other tourists were late and really wanted to make the day. Information and breakfast was top.

Unforgettable Safari Experience – Su is the Best Guide in Yala! - We had an incredible guided safari tour of Yala National Park with Janaka Safari, and we cannot recommend our guide Su highly enough. From start to finish, Su was calm, professional, and impressively organised. With over 20 years of experience, his deep knowledge of the park and its wildlife was evident—and even other guides told us we were lucky to have him!
Su is both a driver and a tracker, which meant a more streamlined and intimate experience. He got us to the gate early so we were first into the park, which made a huge difference in getting the best sightings. His focus and determination to help us see a leopard paid off—we got an amazing, close-up view! Thanks to his seniority and reputation, it genuinely felt like we were given priority positioning, but never at the expense of kindness or respect to others.
Beyond the leopard, we saw everything we’d hoped for and more: elephants (including herds with babies), spotted deer, water buffalo, crocodiles, monkeys, monitor lizards, mongoose, peacocks, Sri Lankan roosters, and multiple types of storks, including a rare one he was excited to point out.
The Sri Lankan breakfast Su provided mid-morning was delicious—fresh hoppers, sambol, and cake with just the right level of spice for Western palates. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, and handled the terrain with ease.
We did a half-day safari from 5am–12pm, and that’s really the minimum we’d recommend—there’s just too much to see to try and squeeze it into a couple of hours.
Su was truly committed to making sure we had the best possible experience—and he 100% delivered. Do not even consider booking with anyone else. If you’re going to Yala, Su is the guide you want. This was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka!

Safari done right - Outstanding private safari with an enthusiastic driver. We spotted a leopard and got up really close to a family of elephants and monkeys, amongst many other animals. Our driver was respectful and made sure to turn off the engine when near wildlife.
A delicious local breakfast was an added bonus!

Leopards, elephants and more - We loved the safari! We were picked up at 4:30, and were at the gate of the national park by 5:20 - we were the second car in line, what was great! Within the first our we saw an elephant family and a leopard! Our driver Shachi was great! Whenever he got the call that a special animal was seen, he drove there very fast so we could see (almost) every animal. A lot of times we were alone on the road (no other car in sight) and we saw a crocodile, boars (pumba), bats, monkeys and so much more. We are very happy! But it would have been nice to get more informations about the park and animals.
The first and only break was around 8:30 with toilets and a Sri Lankan breakfast, we liked a lot. We also got a big bottle of water before the safari.
I can recommend the safari to everybody, but it is also very exhausting due to the heat and also the speed and road conditions. It‘s an adventure!

Unforgettable wildlife experience - We had an absolutely amazing private safari tour with our 10-month-old baby and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. From the initial contact via WhatsApp the evening before to the perfect drop-off at our hotel afterwards, everything was flawlessly organized.
Our guide was incredibly dedicated and did his utmost to help us spot the “Big 3” – leopard, bear, and elephant. We were incredibly lucky and thrilled to see not just one, but four leopards, a sloth bear, and several elephants, including adorable baby elephants. On top of that, we saw a wide variety of wildlife including many birds, water buffalo, crocodiles, and more.
The entire experience was smooth, comfortable, and beautifully tailored to our needs, even with a baby on board. This tour will forever remain a highlight of our trip and a memory we’ll always cherish.
We highly recommend this provider to anyone looking for a professional, unforgettable safari experience

Dear guide and beautiful tour - Nice tour and our guide Amila was super nice. Breakfast (Hopper, Roti, Sambal, Fruit) was also delicious. Unfortunately, we haven't seen any leopards, but that's just nature. But elephants and other animals. We felt very comfortable.

Spectacular safari experience - We were in the park today with the tour with our 5 year old daughter. We started at 4:30 sharp to arrive at the gate of the park on time. Through our experienced guide we saw a leopard very close. In addition, mongooses, crocodiles, elephants and even almost a bear. He didn't want to climb out of his tree. The animals are not harassed. A lot is explained and you can ask a lot. And it is driven quickly but wisely. Absolutely recommend!
