Tarangire National Park - Following a brief morning orientation, the journey begins in a south-westerly direction towards Tarangire National Park, renowned for its impressive elephant herds. The park boasts a variety of landscapes, including grassy areas, acacia woodlands, and forests. Wildlife ranges from flocks of yellow-breasted lovebirds to kudus, buffaloes, elands, giraffes, and the unique gerenuk. Predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas are present, while wild dogs are a rare sight. In the late afternoon, the park visit concludes, and the journey continues to the lodge for an overnight stay.
Tarangire Area to Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, the departure from the Camp/Lodge leads to a drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, eventually arriving at the vast Serengeti plains for an equally spectacular wildlife viewing experience. The wooded hills around Naabi Hill Gate signify the official entrance to the Serengeti, which then opens up to the park’s iconic expansive plains. This area truly embodies the meaning of “Serengeti,” derived from the Masai “Siringet,” artistically translated as “the land that flows on forever.” Serengeti National Park spans 6,000 square miles of untouched land, offering not only breathtaking views but also the largest mammal migration on earth, including 1.5 million wildebeest.
Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Duration: 4 hours Distance: 145 km. The day begins with a morning game drive in the central Serengeti. This is an active time for animals, as the temperature is still cool, providing ample wildlife viewing opportunities until around 11:30 am, followed by a return to the Camp for Brunch. On the way back, a stop at Olduvai Gorge is planned, a captivating archaeological site for those interested in history and the Masai tribes.
Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - The final day starts early with a picnic lunch, descending 2000 ft. to the Crater floor in a 4×4 wheel drive vehicle for game viewing. This exploration of the “Garden of Eden” reveals the vast and deep volcanic Crater. The Crater floor’s rich pasture, swamps, forest, and permanent water support a diverse and abundant wildlife population, with up to 25,000 larger animals residing here. It presents an excellent opportunity to see the black rhino and other rare species like the black-maned lion. The day promises to be fantastic, showcasing wildlife at its finest. In the late afternoon, the return journey to Arusha concludes with a drop-off at the Lodge/Hotel.
