- Osiligilai Maasai Lodge - DAY 1: MOSHI TO WEST KILIMANJARO | 64K
Today’s journey takes cyclists from the lush southern side of Mt. Kilimanjaro to the drier western side. The ride begins through coffee and banana plantations in the fertile southern region of Kilimanjaro, transitioning to the arid open plains and acacia woodlands as they head west. These plains are home to diverse wildlife and offer stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. While Moshi is inhabited by the Chagga people, the western Kilimanjaro plains are home to the nomadic Maasai, who live harmoniously with the local wildlife, earning the area the name Maasai Lands. The ride includes both dirt and tarmac roads, concluding at the Olpopongi Maasai Village for an overnight stay.
Meals: Lunch and Dinner included
Accommodation: Osiligilai Maasai Lodge
- Arusha - DAY 2: WEST KILIMANJARO TO ARUSHA| 83K
Today’s cycling adventure is a longer one, taking participants from the west Kilimanjaro plains to Arusha city. The initial part of the ride traverses the Ngasurai open plains, a migratory path for elephants traveling to and from Amboseli National Park in Kenya. Cyclists can expect a hot and dusty day. After completing the dirt road, the route joins the main tarmac road towards Arusha city, passing small villages and settlements with Mt. Meru in the background. Before reaching the vibrant city of Arusha, the route diverts through a coffee estate, leading to a boutique lodge outside the city. The day concludes at the Kili Cranes Hotel for an overnight stay.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included
Accommodation: Kili Cranes Hotel
- Tarangire National Park - DAY 3: ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE | 102K
Today’s ride covers the longest distance, though not the most challenging, primarily on tarmac roads. The route passes through numerous villages, towns, and open plains. The long stretches of undulating road through the Tanzanian countryside perfectly illustrate Ernest Hemingway’s quote: “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.” After completing the tarmac section, the route diverts onto a dirt road leading to a camp on the border of Tarangire National Park, home to Tanzania’s largest concentration of elephants. The day ends at the Roika Tented Lodge, offering a refreshing swimming pool to cool off after a long, hot day of cycling.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included
Accommodation: Roika Tented Camp
- Lake Manyara National Park - DAY 4: TARANGIRE TO LAKE MANYARA | 74K
Today’s ride promises another thrilling day as cyclists traverse the migratory wildlife corridors between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. The initial section returns to the main road for a few kilometers before diverting onto a dirt road towards Lake Manyara. This wildlife-rich area features numerous Maasai settlements along the way. A highlight of the day is the breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley as cyclists head towards Lake Manyara. After the dirt road section, the route rejoins the main tarmac road towards Mto wa Mbu town for several kilometers before diverting onto a dirt road leading to Migombani Tented Camp for an overnight stay.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included
Accommodation: Migombani Camp
- Ngorongoro Crater - DAY 5: LAKE MANYARA TO NGORONGORO | 43K
Today’s ride is the final and most challenging, yet the most rewarding. The day begins with a cycle from the dirt road back onto the tarmac road, passing the bustling town of Mto wa Mbu and the entry gate of Lake Manyara National Park. Cyclists then face a tough climb up the Great Rift Valley escarpment, leaving behind a stunning backdrop. Before reaching the top, there’s a stop at a viewpoint overlooking the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park and its surroundings, perfect for a memorable selfie. The ride continues on the tarmac road past the vibrant Karatu town towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The day’s journey concludes at the entrance gate to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Loduare gate), marking the end of an exciting 6-day tour of Tanzania’s northern tourist circuit on two wheels.
- Kilimanjaro International Airport - DAY 6: NGORONGORO TO MOSHI / JRO AIRPORT
With a 20-minute drive from Karatu to the stunning Ngorongoro ahead, a 07:00 departure from the hotel in Karatu is necessary. An expert safari guide will ensure a well-cared-for experience throughout the day, sharing valuable knowledge. Participants will enjoy a picnic lunchbox, included in the day tour. After a delightful day experiencing the spectacular sights and sounds of this special place, the group departs Ngorongoro around 14:00, arriving back in Moshi by 18:00, where they will be dropped off at their hotel or the airport.
