Situated on the right bank of the Aragvi River, it was constructed in the 16th-17th centuries and served as the main residence of the Aragvi Eristavi - Dukes dynasty since the 13th century. The village of Ananuri lies on the main trade route leading north to Russia, which was once part of the Great Silk Road. Today, this route is known as the Georgian Military Highway. Located 74 km (1 hour) from Tbilisi, the drive offers beautiful views along the Zhinvali water reservoir, which dams the clean and blue mountain waters of the Aragvi River. The castle, bell tower, three churches, and intricately carved walls are highlights that attract many visitors.

Unforgettable Gudauri Adventure – Exceptional Service with George & Sergi! - Absolutely incredible experience with Visit Georgia with George! Our trip to Gudauri Ski Resort was seamless from start to finish. George is an outstanding coordinator with top-tier communication skills; he was always available and made the planning effortless.
Our driver, Sergi, was fantastic—punctual, professional, and incredibly friendly. He provided fascinating, in-depth references throughout the journey that made the history and landscapes of the region come alive. It felt less like a standard tour and more like exploring with a local friend. I will certainly use them again for my next visit! Five stars all the way!

Amazing trip with Amazing Guide! - We’re an Italian family who just got back from your tour, and we had to write to say thank you!
Everything was wonderful. The places we saw were stunning—the mountains, old monasteries, vineyards, and cute little towns. Georgia is so beautiful!
Our guide Beso was the best part. He knew so much and explained everything with real passion, but he was also super positive and kept us laughing all day with his jokes. He felt more like a friend than a guide.
Thanks for organizing such a great trip. We’ll definitely recommend you (and especially Beso!) to everyone back home in Italy.

Superb Experience in Gudauri - Indeed Gudauri satisfied our expectation. There’s a lot of activities you can do in Gudauri from skiing, to cable cars, to snow mobile and paragliding. My son who is 5 yrs. old had a lot of fun using the kid-friendly snow car - because the area provides a good slope for kids to enjoy the snow safely. Also, within the area - restaurants and washrooms are available. Plus factor is that there are so many areas good for picture taking and sight seeing. Though it will be a long ride from city to Gudauri - having our Super Guy Tour Guide George - the long drive is enjoyable - he will keep you entertained and well informed about the trip so the whole journey is superb!

Great Trip to Gudauri - We had a wonderful trip exploring Georgia, and our tour guide, Beso, made it even more enjoyable. He was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing so much about Georgian history, and we really appreciated his insights. He was also very patient with us, as we were traveling with two younger kids and needed some downtime along the way.
The only thing I would note is that the roads to Gudauri can be a bit nerve-wracking, especially at night. If we were to do it again, we’d definitely aim to leave as early as possible in the morning to make sure we’re back before sunset.
Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend this tour!

Unforgettable First Snow Experience in Gudauri with Visit Georgia with George! - My family had an incredible full-day private tour in Gudauri, Georgia, organized by Visit Georgia with George and guided by the amazing Sergi. It was our very first snow experience, and it exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we arrived, the breathtaking snow-covered landscapes left us in awe.
Sergi was an exceptional guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and patient—ensuring we had the most memorable day. He guided us through various activities like sledding, building snowmen, and simply enjoying the magical winter scenery, making the experience seamless and enjoyable for everyone.
Gudauri’s pristine snow and the excitement of trying snow activities for the first time made it a day we will cherish forever. We couldn’t have asked for a better team or a more perfect setting for our first snow adventure. A must tour if you are going in Winters - We went to Gudauri Mountain range . The weather was excellent , bright and sunny . We really enjoyed the Cable Car ride till the Top ( 3 stations ) . We then went to Jvari Monastery and also saw the black and white river mixing with each other . Our Tour guide George took us to an Indian Restaurant where we had Masala Tea .. overall nice trip. Our tour guide George was knowledgeable and helpful .
