- Thessaloniki - Begin your journey with a pick-up from your hotel or apartment in Thessaloniki and head to the first destination, the Waterfalls of Metamorfosis.
- Ktima Kir-Yianni - Established in 1997 by Yiannis Boutaris, a prominent figure in the Greek wine industry, Kir-Yianni emerged after he departed from the Boutari Wine Group, a prestigious family wine company founded by his grandfather in 1879.
Currently, Stellios Boutaris, a fifth-generation winemaker, is steering Kir-Yianni into a new era by embracing the core principles of the Kir-Yianni philosophy: a passion for innovation, respect for tradition, and a profound understanding of wine, from grape cultivation to consumer enjoyment. The Naoussa region boasts a rich history of winemaking, with records indicating vine cultivation and winemaking as early as the 16th century. The primary grape variety in Naoussa’s vineyards was Xinomavro, traditionally grown in gobelet style and densely planted.
Today, Naoussa is recognized as one of Greece’s leading wine-producing regions, with 500 hectares of vineyards and approximately 20 wineries.
- Agios Nikolaos - The park of Agios Nikolaos is a major attraction in Naoussa, offering a natural haven for locals and tourists alike. It provides scenic walks, train rides, and a peaceful retreat from city life. This renowned park, set amidst lush vegetation, is an ideal spot to appreciate nature.
Located 3 km from the historic town of Naoussa, this earthly paradise features ancient plane trees, oaks, chestnuts, and flowing water. The park, unique in Greece for its ancient plane trees, captivates visitors year-round. Streams, wooden bridges, a small zoo, playgrounds, an artificial fishing pond, and the church of Agios Nikolaos create a vibrant tapestry of colors and sounds, making it one of Greece’s most beautiful parks.
It has received the first pan-European renovation award, a significant accolade within the European Urban and Regional Planning Awards.
- Καταρράκτης βάθρων - NOTE: Access to this attraction is only possible by car or minivan; minibuses cannot reach this site.
This beautiful and easy walking route is suitable for everyone. Signposts guide visitors, allowing them to choose the order in which to explore the area’s attractions. Standing beside the small natural waterfalls and enjoying the endless water is an unforgettable experience. However, diving into the icy waters is challenging, especially outside of summer. For the adventurous, the pedestals in front of the waterfalls, ideal for swimming, are located just after the Metamorfosi church, where picnicking is also an option, along with the “Kallisto” pedestal. Drinking water is available at the chapel, at the first pedestal emerging from tree roots, and at the “Kallisto” pedestal emerging from the rock.
- Arkochori - Nestled between the hills of Saint Athanasios and Saint Demetrios, Arkochori (formerly Arkoudochori) is hidden within a dense forest of Oak, Chestnut, and Filira trees. The village, named after the bear (Arkouda) that once roamed these paths, first appeared in historical records in 1646.
Leveraging its unique location, natural beauty, and architectural charm, Arkochori has become a favored destination for alternative tourism. Visitors can wander through its picturesque narrow streets, admire the flower-adorned courtyards of stone-built traditional houses, refresh themselves with icy water from stone fountains, and savor the delicious dishes prepared by passionate local restaurateurs and skilled village cooks.
- Naoussa - Explore the Sacrifice Site of Naoussa, a deeply moving historical landmark in Northern Greece. This sacred site honors the heroic sacrifice of the women of Naoussa, who in 1822 chose to leap into the Arapitsa Waterfall rather than surrender during the harsh suppression of the Greek War of Independence.
Today, the site stands as a powerful emblem of courage, freedom, and national pride, surrounded by stunning natural beauty and offering visitors a profound connection to Greece’s fight for independence.

Intriguingly, central Macedonia houses some of the most appealing travel spots. Filled with historical neighborhoods, stunning groves, and quality wines, it’s a true gem. The city of Naoussa, in particular, is known for its historical legacy, captivating places, unique tastes, prestigious vineyards, and wineries, which make exceptional wines. It solidifies its position as a compelling travel spot in the already enchanting central Macedonia, earning it the nickname ‘land of Xinomavro’.
Today, apart from the Xinomavro, grape varieties such as Negoska, Naousseiko, Sefka, Prekniariko, and the so-called Local Wines of Imathia are cultivated in this region. With a new generation of winemakers stepping in, the wine-making region of Naoussa is witnessing a gentle resurrection. It is recognized as a Protected Designation of Origin Zone. The Xinomavro remains the leading red variety in Northern Greece, placing Naoussa among the most renowned wine-producing regions in the entirety of Macedonia. The region has also preserved its OPAP (Appellation of Origin of Superior Quality) status.
