A must do experience when in Venice - There are many Murano glass experiences costing 30€+ per person but we were advised to take the vaporetto (water bus) from San Marco Zaccaria direct to Murano - you can buy 1 day, 2 day, 3 day or 7 day vaporetto passes which are value for money and hop on and off as much as you like. It's approximately a 30 minutes boat ride. As you disembark the water bus at Navagero there was a gentleman who asked if we were interested in seeing how the glass was blown for free. We thought why not? It's AMAZING to see a master ply his craft and I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IT. They have their showroom adjacent where the works of art are mind blowing. Be prepared for someone to approach you for the hard sell but we didn't mind that as it was an experience to see Murano glass masterpieces being blown and made infront of our eyes. There is also a lovely bar by the bridge next to a beautiful church that is very well priced indeed. Overall we loved the experience and HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Murano Glass - The Murano glass factory we visited (there are many), was very informative. What talented artists they have demonstrating how the glass blowing process works. Following the tour we walked around the island of Murano. What a pleasant island. Clean, quaint and charming. Lot's of tourist shops. Very pleasant experience.

Seemed like more of a sales pitch than demonstration - Demonstration was about 15-20 minutes. Rest was 6 rooms of glass blown products for sale. Under impression demonstration would be more involved and longer

Glass blowing was really... - Glass blowing was really interesting. Guide had no energy and seemed displeased we spoke English. He didn't say much at all and we just watched, would have been nice for him to explain what the glass artist was doing.

So called free tour is a con - If offered the free boat ride and tour of the Venier factory don’t bother. We were greeted by the “guide” who told us they are definitely not a salesperson 🙄. After a brief demonstration of the glass blowing which was really good, we were taken to the shop and told many times there’s no obligation to buy, despite being followed around and continually told how much cheaper the factory pricing is and asked if we had questions about the pricing or the artist. While the pieces are beautiful, once it was clear we weren’t going to buy anything we were rushed out the side door and put on a boat and taken back to Venice. I would have much preferred we made our own way to the island and saw more of it rather than this waste of a trip. There’s so much more to see and there’s cheaper murano glass elsewhere without the pushy sales tactics.

Don't bother... - Didn't bother going on this tour as our hotel arranged the same tour with a different factory for FREE! We decided to go with our hotel's organised tour as it also included two private glass-making demonstrations and a free private water taxi to and from Murano - what a delightful experience!
