- Chartwell - Explore the home and grounds of Sir Winston Churchill at Chartwell, which remains much as he left it. A cigar still rests in the ashtray in his office. Visitors can also explore the Walled Garden, where the house’s fruits and vegetables were cultivated, Churchill’s cherished Rose Garden, and his Studio, where he painted many artworks. If time permits and the weather is pleasant, a walk in the expansive grounds is recommended. Admission to Chartwell is £18 per person, which is not included, but can be pre-booked upon request.
- Tenterden - Begin with a walking tour of the historic Kent town of Tenterden, dating back to around 740 AD. Today, Tenterden boasts a vibrant High Street filled with independent shops, cafes, and pubs. St. Mildred’s Church is renowned for its exquisite stained glass, among the finest in southern England. The Kent & Sussex Steam Railway departs from Tenterden, and the White Lion Pub, dating back to the 1600s, is one of many historic buildings to explore.
- Smarden - From Tenterden, travel through the picturesque Weald of Kent, often referred to as the ‘Garden of England’, passing through historic villages such as Smarden, Frittenden, and Sissinghurst en route to Chartwell. There will be ample opportunities for photography.
- Biddenden - For those interested in dining at one of Kent’s oldest and most charming pubs, a stop at the 600-year-old Three Chimneys, located just outside the village of Biddenden, offers a chance to enjoy casual ‘pub grub and a pint.’
