Arrival in Yerevan /City Tour/
Yerevan - Often referred to as the “Pink City” due to its volcanic tuff stone architecture, Yerevan is among the oldest continuously inhabited cities globally, established in 782 BC. Today, it harmoniously combines ancient history with a vibrant modern vibe.
During the tour, explore the city’s main attractions, including Republic Square, the heart of Yerevan, surrounded by impressive government buildings and renowned for its dancing fountains. Stroll along Mashtots Avenue, a central boulevard named after the creator of the Armenian alphabet, lined with shops, cafés, and cultural venues. The tour proceeds to the Opera and Ballet Theatre, a landmark dedicated to the esteemed composer Aram Khachaturian and a significant cultural venue in the city.
Yerevan - Visit the Cascade Complex, a monumental staircase offering panoramic views of Yerevan and Mount Ararat, enriched with modern art installations, as well as the Mother Armenia Monument, a powerful symbol of peace and strength overlooking the city.
Throughout the tour, enjoy Yerevan’s unique atmosphere, stroll through its parks, discover local life, and experience its vibrant café culture. The experience continues with free time at the Vernissage Open-Air Market, a must-visit for authentic Armenian souvenirs. This lively market showcases handcrafted treasures such as traditional khachkars (cross-stones), handmade jewelry, carpets, ceramics, and artwork, making it the perfect place to experience local craftsmanship and pick up unique keepsakes.
Yerevan-Garni-Symphony of Stones-Geghard-Sevan-Yerevan
Garni - The journey begins with a visit to Garni Temple, the only standing pagan temple in Armenia, built in the 1st century AD and dedicated to Mihr. Set above the Azat River gorge, it offers stunning views and reflects Armenia’s pre-Christian heritage.
Nearby, explore the Symphony of Stones, a remarkable natural formation of basalt columns resembling giant organ pipes.
The tour continues with a visit to a local house for a lavash baking master class. Discover the traditional preparation of Armenia’s famous flatbread, baked in a tonir, and enjoy a simple local lunch with fresh lavash and cheese.
Visit Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO-listed complex partly carved into the cliffs, dating back to the 13th century and known for its unique architecture and spiritual atmosphere.
Sevan - The journey then continues to Lake Sevan, often called the “Pearl of Armenia” and one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world. Located at around 1,900 meters above sea level, the lake is famous for its crystal-clear blue waters and stunning mountain scenery, offering a peaceful and picturesque setting.
Here, visit Sevanavank Monastery, located on the Sevan Peninsula. Once an island, the area became a peninsula due to changes in the lake’s water level. The monastery provides not only historical insight but also panoramic views over Lake Sevan.
Ejmiatsin-Zvartnots-Departure
Vagharshapat - Begin the excursion to the UNESCO-listed sites of Ejmiatsin and Zvartnots, two of Armenia’s most important religious landmarks.
The Cathedral of Ejmiatsin, founded in 303 AD, is the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the residence of the Catholicos. It is one of the world’s oldest Christian cathedrals and a powerful symbol of Armenian faith and identity.
Continue to the Zvartnots Temple, a 7th-century architectural masterpiece built by Nerses the Builder. Although now in ruins, the site impresses with its unique circular design and remains one of Armenia’s most remarkable historical monuments.
