Arusha – Bush Flight to Serengeti (Northern Serengeti – Wildebeest Migration)
Serengeti National Park - Begin the day with a morning flight to the Serengeti. Upon arrival, meet the Safari Guide and head to Northern Serengeti to witness the Wildebeest river crossing migration. This awe-inspiring event is unforgettable, especially for first-time viewers. As the game drive unfolds, the meaning of “endless plains” becomes clear. The park spans 6,900 square miles (18,000 square kilometers), with vast plains stretching to the horizon, challenging your perception of distance. Depending on the migration’s location, you may drive to see the Great Migration, where up to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and various antelopes migrate. The park is also a prime spot for observing big cats and large predators, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, with many famous river crossing scenes filmed here.
Central Serengeti
Serengeti National Park - Enjoy breakfast at the Camp, followed by a morning game drive towards central Serengeti National Park to explore the wildlife along the renowned Serenora Valley, a lively area at the heart of the Serengeti. The Valley is known for its resident animal population, including wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes, and numerous birds and other species. Spend a full day on a game drive around Central Serengeti, then return to the Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Start the day with breakfast at the Camp, then drive to Ngorongoro Crater with a packed lunch. Ngorongoro Crater is a must-see destination, as words alone cannot capture its beauty. After departing the lodge, descend into what was once the fiery core of a massive volcano. Today, this Natural Wonder offers a serene atmosphere where wildebeests, Coke’s hartebeests, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, and common zebras graze peacefully, while lions and cheetahs roam. The black rhinos here are less concerned about predators. Birdlife in the crater varies with the seasons, but expect to see grey-crowned cranes, lappet-faced vultures, black-bellied and Kori bustards, Fischer’s lovebird, and northern anteater-chat, among others. Lunch will be served at a designated picnic site in the crater. Later, drive back to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Lake Manyara National Park & Mto wa Mbu Cultural Tour
Lake Manyara National Park - After an early breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. The first sight will be large troops of baboons. The park is named after the Euphorbia tirucalli plant, known as ‘Emanyara’ in the local Maasai language. Yellow fever trees are scattered around the grassy lake shores, and the Rift Valley wall is a prominent feature. The park entrance is in a unique environment: a groundwater forest offering a refreshing change from savannah-dominated parks. The lush green vegetation, tree-climbing lions, soda lake with thousands of pink flamingos, large water birds, baboons, and the Rift Valley escarpment make this safari unforgettable.
Mto wa Mbu - After a rewarding game drive in the Park, enjoy a traditional Tanzanian cooking lesson in the village. After lunch, embark on a walking tour of Mto wa Mbu village with a local guide. This area is renowned for its tropical fruit, including abundant banana farms. Visit a local wood carving studio to see intricate carvings made from local woods like ebony and mahogany, explore a food market, local pub, rice field, and more. Later, return to the Lodge.
Karatu – Tarangire NP – Arusha
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast at the Hotel, depart with a packed lunch for a one-and-a-half-hour drive through the Maasai steppe to Tarangire National Park. Upon entering the park, be greeted by a landscape dominated by majestic baobabs rising from the acacia parklands, creating a stunning backdrop for large herds of African elephants. Other mammals in this habitat include lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, black-backed jackals, Kirk’s dik-dik, dwarf and banded mongoose, impalas, Beisa oryx, Steinboks, and African hares. Expect to see buffalos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and waterbucks. Bird species include the Maasai ostrich, white-headed vulture, African scops owls, and the endemic ashy starling. Enjoy lunch in the park, then drive back to Arusha or the Airport.
