Then, enjoy a picturesque drive to Akagera National Park. Upon arrival, embark on an afternoon game drive across the park’s breathtaking savannahs, where you may encounter zebras, giraffes, elephants, and a variety of antelope species.

Akagera National Park - After visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, depart Kigali for Akagera National Park, a journey of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours with knowledgeable local experts and a friendly driver guide. Travel in a comfortable 4x4 safari vehicle equipped with Wi-Fi to stay connected with loved ones and the world.

Stop by: Bashana Companies & Imigongo Art Center.

Enjoy a 40-minute stopover at Imigongo Art Center for lunch, coffee, restroom breaks, snacks, and to explore arts, crafts, and relax.

Stop by: Akagera National Park, Rwanda

Arrive at the park entrance and complete the reception formalities.

After clearance, proceed to your accommodation for check-in. Freshen up, relax, or swim before embarking on a sunset boat launch at 4:30 pm on Lake Ihema, the largest lake in Akagera National Park and the second largest in Rwanda after Lake Kivu. After the sunset boat safari, return to the lodge.

Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge.

Full Day Akagera Game Drive

Akagera National Park - At 7:00 am, depart from Mantis Akagera Game Lodge for a full-day safari, featuring an estimated 6-hour game drive with local experts and a friendly driver guide. Enjoy lunch of your choice at Mihindi Picnic Area. The Big 5 are a major attraction in Akagera, where travelers can see Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards, and Rhinos. The park’s forest-fringed lakes, papyrus swamps, savannah plains, and rolling highlands make it one of the most scenic reserves in Africa, boasting exceptional biodiversity and forming the largest protected wetland in central Africa.

3:00 pm marks the end of the safari, returning to the Lodge.

Kigali to Nyungwe – Canopy Walkway & Gisakura Tea Plantation Visit

Nyungwe Forest National Park - After breakfast, travel to the magnificent Nyungwe National Park. Experience the renowned Canopy Walkway, suspended high above the forest floor, offering panoramic views of the lush rainforest and its diverse wildlife.

Later, tour the picturesque Gisakura Tea Plantations, where you’ll learn about Rwanda’s rich tea culture and production process.

Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe – Return to Kigali

Nyungwe Forest National Park - Start early for an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe Forest. Listen for their calls as you track them through dense jungle terrain. Observing chimpanzees in their natural habitat is one of Rwanda’s most rewarding wildlife experiences.

After the trek, enjoy a scenic drive back to Kigali, where your 5-day safari concludes.
