Osiligilai Maasai Lodge - Start the day early with a cycle south towards Ngabobo Village. An early start ensures covering enough distance before the sun rises. Today’s path is intriguing as it traverses dry/wet and arid open grasslands, a stark contrast to the lush, green slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro left behind. Wildlife such as wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, and elephants may be spotted in the morning. The route is shorter but more challenging due to the terrain and weather. The final stretch is a gradual ascent on a gravel road through Ngabobo Village towards the lodge.
Ngabobo to Arusha National Park | 30k

The gentle ascent on gravel roads leads to Momella in Arusha National Park. Cycle through streams flowing down Mt. Meru’s slopes towards the lively village of NgareNanyuki, and continue towards Arusha National Park. As you approach the park, you might spot several giraffes along the way.
Upon reaching the park entrance gate, complete the paperwork quickly and embark on a short game drive around the park with its Momella lakes. Later, drive back to the main gate, collect your bikes, and ride towards the Ngongongare gate. The route concludes on the edge of Arusha National Park. After a brief rest at the gate, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi.

The West Kilimanjaro plains, located in northern Tanzania, encompass both Maasai community territories and Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs). This area is characterized by acacia woodlands and open plains, which host a diverse array of wildlife and offer stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Commonly seen animals include wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, impalas, giraffes, and baboons. Depending on the season, elephants can also be spotted, as the region serves as an elephant corridor connecting Kenya’s Amboseli National Park and Mt. Kilimanjaro. The nomadic Maasai herdsmen inhabit this region and live in harmony with the local wildlife, earning it the name “Maasai Land.” With its rich Maasai culture and abundant wildlife, a cycling tour here is perfect for discerning travelers seeking an unforgettable, off-the-beaten-path adventure that includes walking, photography, culture, and breathtaking scenery.
